Want a voucher in the past? Monica Humphries, passionate about hiking, had a pleasant surprise on her last outing in the mountains.
As she walked in the middle Mountain in the corner of Mayflower Gulch, Colorado, the young woman came across a abandoned mine , now a ghost town. A gold mine dating back to the 1800s.

A place worth millions?
From now on, the gold mine is nothing more than abandoned buildings and vestiges of the past. Monica Humphries discovered structures there as well as pieces of scrap metal and other objects used in the mine at the time. She told the Summit Daily : “I looked inside the ruined shack and saw what looked like a rusty oven, believed to be decades old. Further down the trail I spotted more ruins. Slightly above eye level there is an abandoned structure that was part of the old mining process. Called an ore chute, it was used to move heavy rock into wagons” , she confided.

A place steeped in history, which could still contain gold. But the treasure will remain buried deep in the rock. The reason ? Today, the ghost town and its gold are protected by Summit County. The hiker so then ended his hike by devouring a sandwich and admiring the abandoned buildings. Nice, right?
