Indeed, what we could take for photos taken from the sky is actually a work done by hand by the German photographer Roman De Giuli. These abstract landscapes are composed of paint , powders and water that the artist apply dropper to paper surface and set in motion with small doses of air. Known for his elaborate timelapses mimicking satellite imagery, Roman De Giuli's work draws inspiration from high-definition photography to document the voluptuous movement of fluid pigments, and it is once again the case through this mesmerizing work dubbed 'A Sense of Scale”.

It took about a year to complete this work, which was filmed in 8K resolution using multiple macro lenses. Some may have noticed that its title is a nod to Berton Pierce's documentary 'Sense of Scale' (2011), which describes the world of special effects in Hollywood, when computer graphics began to render miniatures obsolete in the film industry.

A unique artistic universe

Struck by the detail and beauty of the camera effects and the ability to transform objects on screen, Roman De Giuli explains: “I want to emphasize the sense of handmade visuals and the effort required to stage small-scale sets. » If you liked his work and his artistic universe, don't hesitate to visit his Instagram account, where he regularly shares his creations, and on his website so you don't miss any of his news.
