If there's one universal lesson anyone who's aged can tell you, it's that youth fades and time flies. The series of photographs below show male models before and after a lapse of 10 years.

When we look at photos of ourselves from years past, it's hard not to feel a certain nostalgia for our youth. Fashion and celebrity photographer Doug Inglish expresses this idea in his “Then & Now” series. In portraits laid out side by side, he photographed 14 mannequins male through a shot of the subject in the early 80s and the other image representing him in the same scene 10 or even 20 years later.

These portraits depict people who have reached adulthood in recent years. As far as possible, Doug Inglish made it a point of honor to redo the identical shots, whether in terms of clothing, location and general atmosphere. It is thanks to this type of work that we can really see how much people are changing. Not only do they look older, but many of them have gained muscle, grown facial hair and, of course, have more facial wrinkles.

A photo project launched by chance

For Doug Inglish, Then & Now is an emotionally charged project: “It's about nostalgia, nostalgia and time passing. As soon as the photo is taken, it has already changed, it has already passed. There is no present in photography, it's all about memory. The series started with Jacob Buccholz, a model I had photographed in 2004. Over the years we kept in touch and once, while looking at old shots, we decided to try and recreate some of these images. The result was great, so we continued. »
