France was the scene of several “tornado” type phenomena this weekend.
While autumn is marked by an unusual spring mildness, several mini-tornadoes have swept the country in the past two days, causing significant damage.
Météo France had anticipated these phenomena by placing around twenty departments on orange alert, but the violence of some of these surprised a good number of inhabitants, as evidenced by the numerous photos and videos posted on social networks.

Mini-tornadoes swept through several cities in France
It was in the northwestern regions that the storms and winds were the most virulent, with gusts approaching 140 km / h in Normandy.
“Tornado” type phenomena have also been seen, first in Vendee Saturday October 22 (photo above) then Sunday afternoon around 6 p.m. in the town of Bihucourt (Pas-de-Calais). The city center of this small town of 300 souls has also been “ravaged”, entrusted the mayor to our colleagues from France Television .
Trees were uprooted and electricity pylons were damaged. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
An impressive video of this mini-tornado, broadcast on Twitter, clearly shows the formation, under the stormy supercell, of a snorkel that touches the ground. Extremely rare images in France.

Finally, the cities of Conty (Somme) and Beuzeville (Eure) would also have suffered similar phenomena, which caused considerable damage.
New images posted on Facebook show considerable damage in the town of Conty in the Somme department. A possible #tornado would be the cause of these destructions. Terrible afternoon in Hauts-de-France.

Impressive mini tornado in Beuzeville in the #Your . Over a width of not even 100m, the trees have been uprooted and dragged or cut clean, the roofs show some damage. My mother was preparing the lodging for the next tenants and had the fear of her life. pic.twitter.com/oS7aFgVIwG

As a reminder, tornadoes, which form at the base of a cloud thunderstorms are extremely violent and devastating whirlwinds.
