The SMIC will soon increase to 4,400 euros in Switzerland

You may not know it, but the highest minimum wage in the world is in… Switzerland. And the country of chocolate plans to increase its minimum wage at the beginning of next year.

It's no secret that the cost of living is known to be very high in Switzerland. Faced with the soaring prices of energy and raw materials in Europe, the canton of Geneva has decided to upgrade its minimum wage .

24 Swiss francs per hour

As our colleagues from BFM TV point out, the canton of Geneva has been indexing the Smic on price changes for two years. Inflation obliges, the minimum wage will increase sharply from January 1, 2023.

Therefore, the employees concerned will receive 4,368 Swiss francs gross per month, or 4,400 euros for a weekly hourly volume of 42 hours (24 Swiss francs per hour). In France, the minimum wage is set at 1678.95 euros gross per month (i.e. 1329.05 euros net monthly).

But as we mentioned above, everyday life is extremely expensive. According to figures from the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Swiss inflation is estimated at 17%, 'three times more than the price increase currently observed in France', underlines the site of information.

It should be noted that the revaluation of the minimum wage also concerns the 200,000 French people who work in the pays .
