In India, Prabha Devi is a woman who broke an impressive world record. Aged 75, she became a mother for the very first time. With her husband, who is now 80 years old, she has never managed to have children in the past. Thus, the couple had decided to adopt a first.

After many failures to get pregnant naturally, the septuagenarian turned to medically assisted procreation. Eventually, Prabha Davi managed to get pregnant using in vitro fertilization (IVF).

She becomes a mother at 75

Given the advanced age of the mother, a childbirth natural was not possible. Moreover, Prabha Davi now has only one lung as she was a victim of tuberculosis in the past which cost her an organ. Thus, cesarean section was the only option.

“We did an ultrasound and saw that there were complications, so we decided to have her delivered by caesarean section. She was old and in poor health, we could not take any chances with the child's life. She had already carried the baby for more than six months, which is already very surprising for her age. , said the doctor who gave birth Prabha Devi.

The septuagenarian gave birth at Kinker Hospital in Kota, Rajasthan. She gave birth to a baby girl born prematurely, after only 30 weeks of pregnancy . Doctors preferred to induce labor earlier to protect the life of the mother, who might not have survived a longer pregnancy.
