According to a group of dermatologists, rubbing your eyes is strongly discouraged. Here's why.
When we are the victim of an allergy, we have not slept enough or we have spent too much time in front of a screen, it can happen to us to rub our eyes . In these three cases, our eyes become dry and itchy.
But beware, rubbing your eyes is not a trivial gesture and is even a bad habit.

According to dermatologists interviewed by HuffPost, rubbing your eyes can affect our health .
The Dangers of Eye Rubbing
Rubbing your eyes too often can lead to eye diseases like keratoconus. This sickness forms when the cornea of the eye thins and becomes distorted. Ultimately, it can lead to the risk of myopia or an increased sensitivity to light called photophobia.
“Chronic eye rubbing not only damages the eyelid skin, but can also cause corneal micro-scratches. Over time, this can cause the cornea to thin and lose shape, which can lead to blurred vision, a condition known as keratoconus” , explained Dr. Snehal Amin, dermatologist.

Because of the bacteria on our hands, rubbing our eyes can also increase the risk of infection. Germs can enter our body through the mucous membranes of the eyes. If the latter are infected, they can be bloodshot, develop dark circles and significant wrinkles.
How not to rub your eyes?
But how can we resist the urge to rub our eyes when they sting us? According to dermatologists, it is recommended not to rub your eyes more than twice a day. If you can't, you can take therapy to remove this bad habit that has been ingrained in your daily life for years.
If you wear contact lenses and have itchy eyes, it is advisable to switch to glasses for a while until the itching subsides.
