Prince William and Harry walked side by side during Queen Elizabeth II's procession

During the procession of Queen Elizabeth II, Prince William and his brother Harry walked side by side during the parade. The same scene that had already taken place 25 years earlier, after the death of Princess Diana.

Following the death of the queen Elizabeth II , a procession was held to transport the Queen's coffin from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall. The procession is a religious parade punctuated with prayers and songs, during which we could see a scene that had already taken place 25 years earlier.

25 years ago, when Princess Diana tragically passed away, Prince William and his brother Harry were seen walking side by side behind the coffin. A scene that repeated itself during the procession of Queen Elizabeth II.

Prince William was dressed in a military uniform while his brother Harry wore a civilian outfit. Indeed, Harry no longer has the right to wear the military uniform since he decided to leave his royal duties to settle in the United States with his wife.

A reconciliation between William and Harry?

Until now, it was not known if Prince William and Harry would walk side by side during the procession of the queen , since the two brothers were cold. This is William and Harry's second joint appearance in days, after two years without speaking to each other.

Since Harry made the decision to move to California and leave the royal family, tensions have been particularly tense with William. Reason why the two brothers had not walked side by side during the funeral of their grandfather, prince Philip, in April 2021.

So true reconciliation or mere appearance? According to several royal sources reported by the Daily Mail, it would be a simple “show of unity” from the two brothers, who would always maintain cold exchanges behind the scenes. Reconciliation therefore still seems distant between the members of the royal family.

The Queen's coffin has been transported

Regarding the coffin of the queen, we could see it draped with the royal standard during the procession. It was also adorned with the Imperial State Crown, set on a purple cushion, which was the crown worn by the Queen after her coronation, when she left Westminster Abbey.

This gold crown is priceless as it has 2,868 diamonds, 11 emeralds, 269 pearls and 4 rubies. This is one of the most famous pieces of the Crown Jewels.

From now on, the coffin of Queen Elizabeth II will rest in Westminster Hall until the funeral, which will take place this Monday, September 19.
