So Zach needed constant help getting around and Madison was there for him every day. This ordeal brought the couple closer, who had never been so welded. The lovers finally decided to marry in the hospital, where Zach was receiving his treatment, so as not to let the disease win and prevent them from getting married. The ceremony was organized and funded by a charity that helps young adults with cancer. A cake, flowers, decorations and gifts were sent.

As the relatives of the bride and groom could not come to the hospital to attend the ceremony due to health restrictions, health personnel were present. Nurses also did Madison's hair before the ceremony.
