India: this man has not lowered his arm for 10 years (and it's not even the world record)

In India, a man claims not to have lowered his arm for 10 years as a sign of respect for his God.
In an attention-grabbing video on Reddit, the man is interviewed with the help of a translator, keeping his arm raised the whole time, of course. During the conversation, he explains in particular that he keeps his arm raised so that God notices him. The caller is, unsurprisingly, intrigued by the practicalities of keeping your arm aloft for ten years. But the man actually seems very relaxed, stating that “sleeping is not a problem” and that he 'don't even notice it anymore' because his bras is now « insensitive ».
When asked how long he will continue, the translator replies: “He hasn't decided anything yet, but he could keep it like this all his life. He hasn't decided yet, he doesn't think about the future, he just lives in the present”. The man uses his other arm to perform his daily tasks and still admits to having no strength in the arm which remains vertical. Inevitably, this particularly impressive endurance is surprising and Internet users from all over the world remain speechless.
If you find this unbelievable, know that a man named Amar Bharati has been raising his hand for over 45 years and doesn't plan on lowering it anytime soon. Besides, he better not try because if he tried to lower his arm, it could cause permanent nerve damage and loss of circulation.
A man has kept his arm in the air for 45 years
It all started while he was working in a bank in Inside , this husband and father of three children suddenly opted for a radical change in lifestyle by devoting his entire life to Shiva, a Hindu deity. In order to truly serve his religious beliefs, he had an idea: he would raise his hand and never lower it. 'I'm not asking for much. Why do we fight among ourselves, why is there so much hatred and enmity between us? I want all Indians to live in peace. I want the whole world to live in peace” did he declare.
