It is well known: the GR20 (Corsica) is one of the trails most difficult hiking trails in France. And the least we can say is that this course attracts thousands of athletes every year.

The hike turns out to be a tragedy for an Orléanais

Among them, an Orleans adventurer who did not last long. The reason ? The 29-year-old abandoned the hike after 300 meters after falling from his hammock, report our colleagues from Corse-Matin.

This terrible misadventure began when the hiker has made it his mission to set up his shelter for the night between two trees. Bad luck, his evening turned into a nightmare a few minutes later.

Before adding: Head down, held by the branch, he frees himself. Immediately blood gushed from the wound. The unfortunate man grabbed his belt and stopped the bleeding with a tourniquet. He calls the emergency services and we pick him up around 11 p.m. ».

Once taken care of, the young man was airlifted. The latter had parked his motorhome in Ajaccio to carry out the GR20 during the night, specifies the regional daily.
