At 71, she embarks on a modeling career and her beauty leaves no one indifferent

The modeling world is not known for its progressive stances on age. However, little by little, models who are well past the average age in the profession are making their debut in the fashion industry. This is particularly the case of Setsuko Saito, alias Rosa Saito, originally from São Paulo, who has managed to find a place for herself in this particularly closed environment.

From the height of her 68 years, she was approached by a specialized agency to embrace the modeling career. At first, she was very skeptical about her ability to take on this role and it took her a year to be convinced, twice by a modeling company and once by a photographer. But finally, Setsuko Saito decided to try her luck in this new project that was reaching out to her. She hasn't looked back and has since flourished as a mannequin , at the age of 71.

Before becoming a model, Setsuko Saito spent her life caring for and taking care of others. First, at the age of 22, she took care of her diminished mother. Then in 2000, her husband passed away and she had to manage their three children. What prompted her to try modeling was the fact that she had 'dedicated to other people' for so long and she didn't want to live with regrets. 'If I don't try, I'll never know' she said.

A young and free spirit

With her long silver hair and elegant poses, Setsuko Saito has a rare natural beauty. She is a versatile model who appears in editorial, advertising and even high fashion photo shoots. She is also no stranger to parades fashion and recently participated in São Paulo Fashion Week. She regularly accepts new projects without thinking about her age : “I keep learning and I feel like the more I learn, the less I know. Of course, time passes, but what is time? If I had to give an age to my soul, I would give it 22 years. »
