On a flight to Orlando, a retired nurse saved the life of a three-month-old baby who was no longer breathing. Thanks to her years of experience, she managed to rescue the child.

Last week a plane flew to Orlando with Spirit Airlines. Tamara Panzino, a retired nurse, was among the travelers. Thirty minutes after the plane left, the young retiree was reading a book with her headphones on when she heard a flight attendant say: “We have a baby who is not breathing. »

An announcement then sounded on the plane asking if a doctor was on board. The former nurse decided to help and ran to the back of the plane. It was then that she saw a small baby three month old who was not breathing.

'I didn't know what I was dealing with. I saw a baby with its head back and blue lips. I thought my heart was going to stop.' , she confided.

Thanks to his years of experience, the nurse immediately knew how to react. She asked the child's father to hold the baby while she rubbed his sternum. She then tried to get the child to react by pinching him to cry and start breathing again. By dint of vigorously rubbing his chest, the baby resumed his breathing and regained a normal color.

“The baby was better, his color had returned. I heard breathing sounds and a heartbeat. I felt total relief , said the nurse. This is not a hero story. It's a community that comes together and everyone volunteers to help with their knowledge. I'm glad to have been there. »

After saving this baby, Tamara was able to take advantage of her vacation to decompress on a Caribbean cruise with her husband. She was also warmly thanked by the parents of the baby as well as the airline.

“We express our deepest gratitude to Tamara for coming to the assistance of our guests and we commend our crew for their quick response” , the airline said.
