A cyclist follows the directions of Google Maps and spends the night clinging to the edge of a cliff

It is well known: GPS are not always reliable, and it is not this 17-year-old teenager who would dare to say the opposite. The latter indeed spent a night clinging to the cliff after having followed the indications of Google Maps.

Near Grenoble, a teenager spent an entire night hanging from a cliff, 150 meters from the void. Miraculously, he was rescued early in the morning. Therefore, a question is on everyone's lips: how did he end up in this situation? The answer can be summed up in two words: Google Maps.

He finds himself trapped on a cliff

This story - which is chilling - began on the evening of Monday October 24 when Loïc, 17, got on his MTB to join friends at Plateau-des-Petites-Roches.

To get there, the young man does not hesitate to follow the directions of Google Maps bike option. The problem? The application makes him take the Pal de Fer trail, a hiking trail prohibited to the public after rockslides.

It was in this context that the cyclist found himself trapped on a cliff, above the void. Paralyzed, he hastened to call the emergency services with his smartphone, but not everything went as planned.
